Day 3: Day trip to Firenze

We found our way to the train station and boarded a high speed train to Florence for the day. It was a fast trip and we arrived in about 35 minutes. We had a few goals for the day:

  • Mercato Centrale (check)
  • Don Nino’s (check)
  • Basilica San Lorenzo (check)
  • Domo (check)
  • Leonardo DaVinci Musuem (missed it)
  • Christmas Market (check)
  • Eataly (check)
  • Leather shopping! (Check)
  • Aimless wandering (check)

Mercato Centrale

We missed this on our last trip because we didn’t even know about it. The lower floor is a market and the upper floor is an overwhelming experience of gastronomical delights. We wandered through both floors and finished with some bruschetta, arancini with ragu inside and of course a refreshing beverage🍷🍺

A few stalls at the market

Basilica San Lorenzo

If you zoom in on the blue circle above the cross, you can see a detailed map of some familiar constellations! I assume this was a specific date? -Mike

A surprise parade…we never did figure out what it was for.

/The parade was for me – Mike
Don Nino’s cannoli- Molto Buono!

More beautiful than any of Michelangelo’s other creations.

The later it got, the more Florence came alive! Each street had unique lighting!

Ahhh Firenze! So much life!
