We said goodbye to La Grassa, skipped breakfast, and trundled down to Bologna Centrale train station to hop on a bullet train to Milan.
An hour later, we strolled through the front door of the Milan Westin Palace, a magnificent hotel.
I told the concierge we just got into town, and we were really surprised when he picked us to get a Platinum upgrade to a double suite with an amazing view of downtown!

This… This is what I want for the rest of my life.
After unpacking, we hit the interior restaurant for a quick bite… Cheryl got a club sandwich, and I got a yummy burger with a floppy egg on it.

oh yeah and maybe there was a grey goose dirty vodka martini, and some rose wine.
That’s all for now. We’re taking a well deserved mid day nap, and heading out to the Duomo and galleria a bit later.
Ok it’s later. We walked about 30 minutes to the Duomo, and what a sight to behold. Instead of dragging it down with words, here is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world.

It’s not tiny… It feels bigger than the Florence Duomo, but definitely smaller than the St. Peter’s.

The up close details are insane. The interior is just as grand.

Ok shout out to St Bartholomew, below

Ok moving on.
Outside the building, a “little” Christmas market snakes around the side and back. About 70 stalls, ranging from yummy treats to beautifully hand made ornaments.

Right beside the market is the Galleria Emmanuelle, a massive covered, open air mall.

We window shopped a bit, but just couldn’t find the right Armani suit or Panerai Luminor watch, so we headed back to the Palace. To find another gift from our hosts.

So we’re crashing out for the night. We have a long day tomorrow heading across the Alps.
